“I feel that it’s very important to have a similar sound in the Bb side of a normal double horn and in that of a double descant with high F. For the baroque and early classical pieces I use my single high F horn to get a brilliant, clear, and light sound. But here with Klaus Fehr’s Bb/high F descant horn I found the sound I had long been searching for: big, warm, and supple!!! Now I restrict the high F horn to making entrances in the high register easier …The intonation is extremely good. Sound is even throughout the entire range. The instrument ‘speaks’ with a light touch, and has relatively little resistance for a Bb/high F horn.”
